Watson has impeccable electronic music
credentials. His first demo in 1995 was snapped up by Dave Angel
for his Rotation label. They later paired up to do a
club night of the same name, boasting appearances from Miss Djax, Luke Slater
and, three times in three months, Jeff Mills. In 1997 Omid "16b" Nourizadeh
of Alola records approached him, interested in his effortless deep lush grooves. Alola
released his debut LP "Biologique" in 1999.
Within months, Watson had set
up his own Bio Records as a channel for clubbier grooves. Now on its 12th
release, Bio has released tracks from Ben Sims, Paul Mac, Deetron, Misstress
Barbara, Dust Club veteran Jerome and 65d Mavericks. Sister label Subconscious
Elements offers a sensual approach to techno combined with a rare attention to
detail, with releases from Carsten Fietz of German's Choke and Noah Pred from
Consigned in Toronto. Bio has garnered great respect from press, DJs and fans,
with Carl Cox' Global label a licensee.
Watson's artistic momentum has been impressive. In 2002 legendary New York
House Label Ibadan released Watson's second LP, Moments in Time. This
relationship has allowed Watson to release many different styles of electronic
music, with an originality which has been noted: he recently signed a double 12"
package for Derrick May¹s Transmat Imprint. A remix for Laurent Garnier is
imminent, as is an album for Kanzleramt.
