DNCN is a Manchester techno legend who has bootstrapped himself into prominence through a dazzling selection of live
performances, some acclaimed releases, and some particularly interesting remix collaborations. Best known for remixing
Mercury Music Prize nominees Elbow he claims to have persuaded the band that they needed some "next level shit on the
flip", an ambition he fulfilled with their Fallen Angel single.
However, DNCN's first remix back in 2002, is a better indicator of his talents and direction; it was of Jello, better
known as Bola, whose track O'Verb appeared on the Lungbone EP on seminal Chicago label Peacefrog. In return, Bola mastered
DNCN's debut 12" "the Dubby Crayons EP", released on manager and collaborator Xander's Phush Consumables imprint. DNCN
cemented his reputation with releases on Manchester digital label Hippocamp as well as releasing his "K-holes and Middle
Management" EP on the www.clevermusic.net label in 2005. These releases were picked up by John Peel, Craig Richards and
DJ Fra among others. Since then he has become a regular on the techno circuit, playing in Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool,
London and Amsterdam.
In 2006, Melodic, whom the NME dubbed "the uk's coolest label", selected his minimal, sex education track, "Eeram", for both
their compilation album "Melodic Today" and its 12" sampler. He also scored a headline slot on Mary-Anne Hobbs' Breezeblock
Radio 1 show in April 2006 playing live. DNCN's brand of deep, hypnotic 4x4 pulses is now fully mature and his new material
will amaze techno and minimal house fans.
